Today is the last day of my Summer Holidays. I have been working a bit so
I haven’t had chance to do as much sewing as I would have liked. In fact most of my list of jobs have remained unfinished or not started.
The main thing I wanted to get done this holiday was the garden. I moved here in February and I haven’t had good weather or money to start it. However last month I purchased some fencing panels and decided that by today it would all be finished.
The new fencing panels arrived and after a week of bad weather I finally got the chance to paint the shed. The shed is only 6′ x 4′ and I wasn’t sure what the coverage would be like, so I bought some wood and fencing paint called Stone from B&Q which is a large DIY store in the UK. It took 4 coats to get rid of that awful red, but luckily it dried pretty quick in-between coats. I was really pleased with the paint and if they had the colour of paint I wanted for the fencing I would have defiantly bought that. It wasn’t too thin and even though I only painted two sides ( the other two are close to fencing panels making it impossible to paint) I only used half of a 2.5L tin.
I then had to put the shrub ( I still have no idea what it is) back on the shed, however it had attached itself to it a bit like Ivy so I had to place some nails for the branches to sit on and hopefully it will attach itself back on place. I did have to trim the plant down a bit as the weight wouldn’t stay on the nails. But I’m sure it wont take long to grow back.
Next up was the fencing panels, I really should have painted them before I fitted them, but I didn’t. Lesson learnt for the other side!
I choose the colour Urban Slate for the fencing, 3 tins and it only did one coat on one side of the garden! By This time I have run out of money, doing a house up on my wage alone is going to take a long time
To the left of my garden I also own this area. I do though have to leave access to the neighbours but the area was covered in grass and weeds growing half way up the fence. What you can just about see is five hours of hard work later. Talk about a workout!
I cleaned the area by my back door. Eventually I will repaint the walls but this will be a next year job now.
The fencing panels adjoining my neighbour still are not up yet due to me being a good neighbour and saying he can take his rubbish out through my garden then I will put the fencing panels up.
I was slightly naïve thinking It would all be done this year. Money definitely doesn’t go far. And today when I thought I would be sat in a nice garden. It’s not even half finished. The fencing the separates me from the graveyard still needs replacing. And I have only just started burning the fencing panels. It has took me two hours just to pull the old fencing apart today
I need to buy a lawnmower and strimmer . So eBay it is!
Lots of work and that’s not even the small patch of land behind the garden.
However I am sure next year it will be all worth it.
