I have been a bit lapse in sewing, work has been mad. With the end of the school term fast approaching the amount of work that has to be done ready for the 32 schools I have to look after to close down for summer is stupid. Early starts, late finishes then working at home in my time because there is so much to be done, has left the sewing to a back seat. However I have 23 days off work with just 2 more days to work, I can honestly say I can’t wait. I have projects planned for sunny days outside in the garden, and for the days when it rains ( most days in Yorkshire) I will be sewing.
Onto the sewing… I put the Rebel Quilt forward in Wednesday Wait Loss and guess what! I was chosen, talk about shock!!
The rebel quilt is a huge learning curve for me and there is lots of unpicking to get the squares even. I am hoping that my next one will be better. I am not going to beat myself up about it though, who knows but then end I may have improved 🙂 I’m very humbled as the other quilts were far better than mine!!
As you can see not much progress has been made, however I bought more thread today so I will hopefully get bit more done of it this week
No much to show really on the sewing front, so I thought I would show you what I have purchased these past few weeks. For the quilting side I purchased the book A Block A Day by Lucinda Ganderton
Each square works to at 12-inch but can be divided to make smaller squares, this only came yesterday so I have only had a quick flick through but I’m really impressed with it.
I also bought Tessellation Pattern and ruler from Alison Glass
I have seen amazing versions of this on the internet. I am thinking of using the ombre fabrics for this one.
Next I bought Libs Elliot Hot Lips Pattern, I have not started this but on my first and only attempt at Paper Piercing it didn’t end well, but I have bookmarked a few videos on YouTube so hoping this will help. As I know my daughters will love this pattern! I can see this being a firm favourite with this family!
Then I bought the Patchwork and Quilting Magazine, with the hex’s that you got free with the magazine I am planning on making some cushions for outside with these ( this is my summer project, once I have made headway with the garden that is)
and for this I bought This pattern from Modern Handicraft
Finally I have also bought this gorgeous fabric, a stretch knit to make a dress
to be honest I think this may stay where it is in the drawer for a while as I need to make something easy first!!!
and here is me saying I need to have a lean month and concentrate on the garden!!!
